Leadership Transition: Charles Mizzi to CEO

Charles Mizzi has been named the new CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) by The Board of Governors, succeeding Carl Brincat. Mizzi will assume his role in the New Year and is currently undergoing a transition period shadowing Brincat. Expressing his gratitude, Mizzi stated that he is honored to lead the Authority.

Mizzi brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the CEO of the Residency Malta Agency for the past five years. His professional background spans finance, investment, and Maltese business. He embarked on his career in 1997 as a Senior Marketing Coordinator at the Bank of Valletta, where he dedicated nearly 11 years.

Eager to build on past successes, Mizzi, in collaboration with the team and under the guidance of the Minister responsible and the Board of Governors, aims to strategically advance the Authority. His goal is to enhance Malta’s already robust position in the gaming industry while delivering value to all stakeholders.

Silvio Schembri, the Minister for the Economy, EU Funds, and Lands, emphasized Mizzi’s extensive experience as a key factor in his appointment. Schembri believes that Mizzi is the ideal candidate to continue the MGA’s accomplishments and lead the Authority and its dedicated colleagues to future success.

The Malta Gaming Authority is responsible for regulating gaming in Malta, overseeing licenses and ensuring legality in the region. Recent instances of the Authority’s regulatory actions include the cancellation of SFJL Holding’s authorization and the revocation of AMGO iGaming Malta’s license.
